Nowadays there is much talk about sustainable development, which is something very important and forebodes the future of the planet. In this area, Forester-Environmentalists have much to offer because the whole edifice of Forestry which they have studied is based on the principle of sustainability. Hence, it wouldn't be an exaggeration too suggest that all scientific groups addressing issues of Planning, Environmental Management and Sustainable Development should be complemented by Forester-Environmentalists.
The G.F.S. organizes various events such as workshops, conferences etc. in order to promote the science of Forestry and Natural Environment.
The top event of the G.F.S. is the biennial National Forestry Conference, usually during a three-day period, which offers the opportunity to all Greeks Forester-Environmentalists to present the results of their research, to exchange views and to forge closer relations on both a collegial and a personal level.
Future goals of the G.F.S. is the publication of various scientific papers and a stronger presence, in a scientific capacity, on pressing environmental issues.
